Niall Quinn has been added to the starting side for April’s ‘Three Wise Men Talking Proper Football’ event at Dublin’s Vicar Street.

 

The Dubliner - who scored 21 goals for Ireland in 92 senior appearances between 1986 and 2002 - partners fellow ex-international legends John Giles and Liam Brady in a star-studded line up on Monday, April 28. Niall replaces Eamon Dunphy who will no longer be participating in the event.

 

The show is in aid of the Irish Professional Footballers Benevolent Association (IPFBA), the organisation established last year by ex-players and that offers assistance to former professionals facing health and financial challenges.

 

And Niall is delighted to team up with fellow Irish football legends John and Liam for the ground-breaking evening in Vicar Street.

 

“I was only too happy to commit myself to this night of what promises to be great craic and full of football tales,” said Niall.

 

“The establishment of the Irish Professional Footballers Benevolent Association is long overdue and it’s great that the generation of players who created the game that it is today will now have a most valuable financial resource to call upon if needed.”

 

IPFBA chairman Harry McCue welcomed Niall to the team for the show that will raise much needed funds for the organisation.

 

“Niall didn’t hesitate for a moment to agree to joining John and Liam which says everything about his commitment to Irish footballers’ welfare,” stated Harry.

 

“It’s going to be a fantastic evening and I urge all football supporters to come along and help those who previously played the game and gave us so much joy but who require assistance.”
